To understand the differences between public service and commercial institutions Public Service Broadcasting: PSB means that programmes are made for the public . There are no advertisement. PSB generally transmit programming that aims to improve society by informing viewers. PSB broadcasters also strive to entertain their viewers. The BBC is a good example of a Public Service Broadcaster. Remit- The responsibility of a programme. BBC Remit- To enrich Peoples lives with programs and services that inform and educate and entertain. To reflect the UK , its culture are values to the world. Funding: 75% of the BBC funding comes from the licensing (Currently costs £147 for a colour and £49.50 for a black and white Tv Licence . The remaining 25% goes to commercial activities.
